Ripple has secured a preliminary Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). This move is expected to help Ripple align with the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation, a recently established legal framework governing crypto operations within the European Economic Area (EEA).
With this provisional license, Ripple is positioned to offer digital asset services that comply with MiCA across up to 30 EEA member countries. MiCA aims to standardize regulatory requirements for the crypto industry within the EU, seeking to enhance transparency, investor protection, and market integrity.
While the preliminary license represents progress for Ripple’s European operations, the company must still meet additional regulatory steps before receiving full authorization under MiCA. The broader compliance environment for crypto service providers in Europe remains dynamic, with ongoing adjustments as rules and enforcement practices evolve.
