Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, the founder of Binance, recently commented on the growing scarcity of Bitcoin. According to CZ, the digital asset’s circulating supply is steadily decreasing, not only as a result of growing interest but also because of coins that have been lost or remain dormant in inaccessible wallets. He posits that this shrinking float could eventually lead to a situation where even individuals with significant wealth, such as millionaires, may struggle to obtain one whole Bitcoin.
This observation adds to ongoing discussions in the crypto community about Bitcoin's capped maximum supply of 21 million units. Industry commentators have previously noted that lost private keys and dormant wallets further reduce the effective number of Bitcoins that are actively traded or available for purchase. While supply shortage is one factor that can influence market dynamics, future demand and overall market sentiment also play a critical role.
It is important to note that predictions about scarcity and pricing remain speculative, and actual market outcomes may differ as adoption patterns, regulations, and technology evolve.
